Digital APP User Experience Measurement and Data Reporting
Client
JPL is a research and development lab federally funded by NASA and managed by Caltech.
Business Need
  • Understand the effectiveness of the User Experience Design based on website interactions: filtering, navigation on the app, planet searches and other content.
  • Analyze User interaction and behavior flow throughout the entire app.
  • Develop a measurement strategy that provides the team with consistent accurate reporting.
  • Define and organize tracking based on stakeholder KPIs and special reporting.
  • Implement Google Analytics code in a progressive web app, designed for multiple devices.
Solution
  • Audit Exoplanets app to identify user interactions and plan a comprehensive tracking strategy.
  • Map out key visitor interactions, select KPI variables and conversion points.
  • Implementing Google Tag Manager with customize events and pageview tracking.
  • Document the Google Tag Manager technical setup in an easy to understand format.
  • Created a Google Data Studio report that updates in real-time based on Google Analytics data.
  • Train the internal team on the Google Data Studio platform and automate reporting.
Results
  • JPL can now monitor visitor interactions with the app and can make informed decisions on future updates.
  • Truemetrics provided a technical tracking spec that explains tracking of select KPI’s such as; “How many people were imbedding apps into their site.” Also, knowing how many visitors were viewing key content like “feature planets.”
  • JPL now has a maintainable GTM solution that can scale in the future and adapt to new content needs.
  • JPL marketing and development staff are confident in sharing their reports with senior management.
Tools
